The Spiritual Edge is a multi-media project from KALW Public Radio, San Francisco, that is exploring the shifting, dynamic nature of the American religious landscape. We seek the hot spots where change is occurring, including among immigrant groups, Christian communities, at the intersection between spirituality, religion and health, and in a growing DIY spiritual culture.
We care less about tradition than innovation, and are more interested in individuals and communities than religious institutions. We believe the lens of religion can offer insight into culture, history, art, health and the search for meaning that is a basic impulse for humans. We have found that it consistently elicits core values and raw emotion from subjects, in a way that few other subject matters can.
Our sound-rich feature stories, profiles and conversations are bringing a focus to the communities and people who are helping to redefine the American religious landscape. We hope you will look, listen, and read – and join in on the discussion.
The Spiritual Edge is made possible through funding from the Templeton Religion Trust.
